No, no, I leave that to the security researchers. They know more than me
about this. It's almost as if they're paid to do it!

Just because *you* or some other person thinks there are *critical*
security vulnerabilities does not mean that those vulnerabilities are
exploitable in any particular instance of the installation of that
hardware or software.

Just because "A" is a vulnerability does not mean that one needs to "fix
or upgrade" anything if "A" is already mitigated.

my gripe is I cannot seem to find a version of NXOS that isn’t ridden with bugs
to allow me to even get close to the uptimes I used to see that were common
place in the network. it used to be a sign of stability IMO, but I digress.

If you've decided to obfuscate HTTP 302 responses from your life, I'm
not sure I can really help you navigate Cisco's security tools anyway.

Suffice it to say, there are a heap of critical and/or high-level
security vulnerabilities listed for the Cisco IOS version referenced by
the OP (12.2(31)SGA1). Eschewing those recommendations in favour of
dick-waving over high uptimes is an industry practice that we should

You are just letting this box run so you have have something to boast
with, no?

I used to have a Cisco 4700 router with like 9 years (*and* and IPv6
capable EFT IOS image) but the young and wild folks over here managed
to trip power to that rack... (it ended up being a lab rack, after
everything else got replaced and moved elsewhere over time). Now
we move around stuff so much that I'm happy if I do not have to
relocate things every two years... :-/

• A Catalyst 4500 series switch upgrading to IOS versions 12.2(25)EWA or
12.2(31)SG might show
unusual uptime in the output of the show version command:

This does not impact the operation of the Catalyst 4500 series switch,
appearing to be strictly
cosmetic.
Workaround: Power-cycle the switch. (CSCsg00796)
