If a user wants to be able to Click to Call from inside Excel or Word (Smart

available ?

Is there a timeframe for a Microsoft Office 2013 Plug In for Jabber for Windows
11.0 ?

I assume you still have to type/copy/paste in what can sometimes be really
long international number, then add the access code or country code
etc...dealing with end users complaining why the extra stepsit works in
Skype etc.

I'm assuming since it's been missing for 2 years that Cisco has no plans to
resolve the Smart Tags issue, or come up with an alternative solution.

I got zero feedback on the Support Forums as well.

Re: [cisco-voip] Jabber for Windows 11.0 and Click to Dial in Word/Excel (Smart Tags)

2015-07-23 Thread Jesse King (jesking)
Hi ,

No, you highlight, then do the shortcut. Have you tried it? In excel if your
cursor is in the cell, and you do ctrl+shift+j, it places the whole cell into
the jabber call/search bar.

This works in all apps now.

Use application dial rules to deal with the dial plan if needed, you should be
doing this to ease the pain for what your end users are complaining about.

The smarttag is an issue in office products as it changes from us to
international versions, if I remember correctly.

Good luck.

If you do active / standby presence you can't have it point to the same

 Thanks Ryan.

That's the one I'm reading (among others). I'm in the planning stages
right now. So reading through first, without actually having access to
 servers to try things out.

 Lelio,

 Follow this guide;

 http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/im_presence/database_setup/9_0_1/CUP0_BK_D6919EAA_00_database-setup-guide-imp-90/CUP0_BK_D6919EAA_00_database-setup-guide-imp-90_chapter_010.html

Walks you through the DB setup ... etc. Having done CPIM compliance
server installs more than a few times, I can tell you it isn't as tough as
 the docs make it seem.

 Thanks,

 Ryan

 Thanks Ryan.

Just reading through some more documents and it seems that's correct. One
actual spin of the postgreSQL process with multiple databases on that
process. The documents show that I have to create the appropriate users and
databases on the postgreSQL CLI and then the rest is done on the IMP
servers, i.e. the creating of the tables.

This is still a pilot project, but I want to be able to use as many
features as possible. In the event we go production, especially if we go
Jabber for Everyone, I would definitely recommend some sort of postgreSQL
cluster or however they do redundancy.

We have limited postgreSQL experience in our area, so it might even mean
getting a contractor in to decide how to configure things properly.
Especially for things like performance and system backup/restore.

 Cheers, Lelio

I believe it would still be just one DB instance on your external DB
server for the IMP cluster. Now outside of the Cisco world; you could then
setup your own PostgreSQL farm for redundancy ... etc.

So depending on my cluster configuration, I could have up to six or eight
postgreSQL instances running on my database server?

Seems like overkill. Wonder why they couldn't simply use a different table
 in the database?

 Lelio,

Yes you need an external instance of postgresql. I find that Ubuntu works
 best.

[cisco-voip] Increase Time to Wait for Input

2015-07-23 Thread David Zhars
We have an automated greeting (Press 1 for this, 2 for that, etc). But you
can also dial an extension. What is happening is people know the extension
begins with 2, so they press 2, then look at their notes to figure out what
the rest of the extension is, and take too long, and we say transferring
and they go to a dept they didn't want.
How can I increase that wait time before we assume they only wanted to dial
2, and not 2119?

thank you!
