I believe when you do 'voice register global' the mode is SRST by default. So you are not seeing the option of 'mode srst' because you are already in that mode. On Sep 14, 2016 1:03 AM, "Sreekanth" wrote: > Mode esrst does not mandate the use of the SRST manager. You can

Mode esrst does not mandate the use of the SRST manager. You can configure mode esrst and then configure the router using the CLI. Esrst provides many more features to the phones over traditional SRST. Are you not getting the 'id network' option under voice register pool for mode esrst? Thanks

You hit the proverbial nail. I spec'ed out replacing our PRIs with SIP with dedicated layer 3 service and it was double, not including one time fees. Plus, with all the issues with fax service, we'd end up keeping a couple of PRIs anyways more than likely. Now, if we were to get SIP service

I just figured it out. I forgot that we have been using the below parameter from when locations where first introduced, and now in 11.7 it breaks locations. When I remove it, locations work, and when I add it back, it breaks. It's pretty cut and dry. Try it for yourself. PS the parameter is

Is there a way to deploy conventional SRST on the new 4000 series routers without the SRST manager? It only gives me the option of mode cme or esrst, and when I try to configure the pool it asks for a mac or device-id... Is automatic SRST no longer a thing on the 4000 series? Jonathan

I think it depends on quality guarantee versus cost. For call centers (like Clifford points out), quality would usually be of upmost importance. But for general usage or college campus environment, maybe quality is not of upmost importance and cellular-like quality is more than acceptable.

The main problem, as Ryan pointed out, is more than likely weak voicemail passwords. Hackers are able to dial your main number and get an automated greeting, when they press (asterisk) they get the "welcome to voicemail" prompt. From there, it's pretty easy to start inputting extensions
