I knew I used it somewhere recently, the command is still available in CCX 10.6.

Try looking at 'file view install upgradeVMwareTools.log' to see if the last
vmtools upgrade/migration corresponds to your latest upgrade. You'll see the
vmtools version there as well.

does ‘utils vmtools status’ tell you what you’re looking for (i.e. ‘out of

you are on that version and do a vmtools upgrade automatically it can happen?

To me that means every system is vulnerable to the issue. But a second
workaround is just disable the auto vmtools upgrade option. As long as one

does ‘utils vmtools status’ tell you what you’re looking for (i.e. ‘out of
date’ or current)? Or are you looking for more info than is generated by that
command?

2019-04-26 Thread Lelio Fulgenzi

My colleague helped me confirm that the initramfs timestamp changes when
VMtools is upgraded. I’m going to see if TAC can help by logging in as root and
getting a timestamp on the file.

We’ll still plan for a possible issue, but at least this will give us a sense

Re: [cisco-voip] looks like we're back to rebooting the cluster

2019-04-26 Thread Lelio Fulgenzi

The way I read the advisory, is that this is a “happens only if” scenario,
namely:

“Cisco has identified an issue where, after a successful VMware Tools upgrade,
the initramfs image located in the boot partition is corrupted in varying
degrees. This corruption of the initramfs image does not lead to a VMware Tools
upgrade failure and the Unified Communications application continues to operate
without exhibiting any issues. However, the next time the server node is
rebooted for any reason the Linux BootLoader fails to load the initramfs image,
which prevents the OS from booting back up.”

I rebooted my lab cluster without an issue does that mean it’s safe to say,
even though it’s running the affected version, it was not affected by this bug?

We had our upgrade completed by a partner – so I’m not sure if they upgraded
the VMware tools after the initial CUCM upgrades were done or if it’s running
the stock tools. I’m guessing no tools upgrade was done, so we’re not actually
affected?

I don’t know enough about the virtualization world to know if there are files I
can see without having to take down a VM, i.e. can I look at this initramfs
image?

2019-04-26 Thread Pawlowski, Adam
Wanted to note as well, now that I look at this again, that 11.5SU5/5a/5b
whatever is not on that list.

I wandered into the listed BugIDs and the most I could assume from reading it,
is that some condition annoys SELinux, blocking what’s probably a copy
operation or similar, and the appliance will subsequently fail to boot.

It’s too bad they don’t have instructions on how to check if you are
vulnerable. Not that I could figure out anyways. At least there’s a work
around. Now to find that recovery disk image.

I have definitely encountered this. It was a new install, not yet in
production, and I think I even figured it out was the vmware being corrupt but
couldn't get it fixed and just reinstalled.

Crazy!

Yes you can dial anything with a SIP URI.
Two pretty good articles
https://help.webex.com/en-us/zhrr8q/Calling-Capabilities-in-Cisco-Webex-Teams

https://help.webex.com/en-us/7ej8gq/Requirements-for-Business-to-Business-B2B-SIP-Calls-To-and-From-the-Cisco-Webex-Cloud

Don’t overlook this very important note.
Cisco Webex Teams users or devices utilizing Cisco Webex Hybrid Call Services
will have their B2B calling requirements defined by the on-premises equipment
configuration,
such as Cisco Unified Communications Manager (Unified CM) and Cisco Expressway.
