Re: [cisco-voip] Unity Connection Mailbox

2019-07-26 Thread Lelio Fulgenzi

I think it has to do with “privacy” and expectations. It’s all great when the
recorded name and greeting is such that you (think you) know who you’re leaving
a message for. But if I call Joe, and Joe has forwarded his phone to Max and
Max’s voicemail picks up and all I hear is “Leave a message”, I _think_ I’m
leaving a message for Joe. That’s who I called.

That’s the argument I’ve heard. I’m sort of on board. ☹

Then of course, there’s the licensing argument.

If you let the final mail box answer calls, you can have 10 people (or more)
sharing a mailbox. They didn’t’ like that. 

It’s funny we ALWAYS use last redirecting.

I (and my team) find first redirecting confusing as heck. Last redirecting
ensures the VM goes to where we want it. We are most concerned with hunt groups
and such and we use CTI route points at the end of any call flow that is
intended for VM. In theory we may end up with more hunt lists and such as some
items may need to be duplicated, but it’s much easier IMO to manage and
troubleshoot.

And if individuals are CFwdAlling it’s because they aren’t available so
shouldn’t the VM go to the person who is in the office and can handle it?

If there was a per user option, who’s preference would take precedence? I think
that’s the issue and why it has to be system wide.

There used to be a system wide settings on Unity Connection where you could
decide to either send it to the originating mailbox. Not sure if it was
available in the admin GUI or it needed a cisco unity monkey tool to do it.

Will spend a few minutes looking…

Jack on PSTN > Diane ext 4001 >> Bobbie ext 4002

If Jack calls Diane and Diane has call forward all to Bobbie, is there a way
for Jack to hear Bobbie’s voicemail and not Diane’s?

TAC said no. Ask the expert at Cisco Live said no. is the answer really no?

Not that I'm aware of, but there is a sloppy work around.

Go into CUC and change Diane's mailbox to a dummy number, 40019 and then
add x4001 as an alternate on Bobbie's mailbox.

Once the forward is removed, you have to manually go undo it in CUC.

I warned you, sloppy :)

Mine is also down. I presumed it was my server but maybe not this time. I guess
if it comes up on its own before I login and check tomorrow Ill know!

I’ve got two sets of directory connector (connecting to two different control
hub orgs) down. status.webex.com shows control hub
login issues but they’re resolved and being monitored. I suspect it’s more than
just that.

Would like to hear from others…
