That should be fine in regards to call preservation and just keeping the RTP stream up. Both sides just have to hang up the call separately. Ideally pstn connected calls as well preserved, after switchover from one cm to another, next call manager enquires gateway about active connection using an AUCX msg. For MGCP, they'll normally fail unless you have no mgcp timer receive-rtcp on it.
