As a release manager, you’ll be responsible for:

   - SPOC for a release and Release Owner.
   - Coordinates all components of a release – project teams, external IT
   teams, shared services, vendors.
   - Facilitate the integrations of multiple projects into a release.
   - Manages Environment allocation for a release.
   - Gatekeeper:


   1. Environment Management: Takes responsibility for the implementation
   of application changes through the various environments, development
   through production & DR
   2. Change Management: Helps identify, create and implement processes to
   efficiently manage the smooth release of application code.


   - RM’s role in every phase of SDLC


   1. Design (Priorities projects and slot it into a Release, Environment
   Requirement, Release Testing Timelines, Implementation Timelines)
   2. Build (Coordination with internal/external IT teams and vendors,
   Environment Preparation, Build and Deploy coordination in non-prod,
   Performance Test Preparations)
   3. Test (Coordination with internal/external IT teams and vendors,
   Monitor Testing, Monitor Environment Stability, POC for IT)
   4. Implement (Release Review, Prepare Implementation Plan & Resource
   Plan for Prod, Change Control Coordination, Go/No-GO, Release Status
   communications, Coordinate Post-Prod Touch points, Resolution of
   Post-Production Issues Coordination, Release Lessons Learned Facilitation)


   - Additional Responsibilities of RM


   1. Project Management (Single Release POC for PMs, Monitor & Communicate
   Release Status0
   2. QA (Single Release POC for QA Leads, Monitor & Communicate Release
   Status, Attend DRB’s and help monitor defect status and escalate, Monitor
   and execute development builds)
   3. Business Analysis (Communicate Release-Related Issues to the BA
   (defect statuses, requirement clarifications, etc. to be discussed with
   LOB))
   4. Development (Single POC for Release-Related Development Issues (EDM,
   Environment Issues, Functional Accounts, etc.) ClearQuest & ClearCase Issue
   Resolution and Release Package Creation)
   5. Environment Management (Coordinate & Schedule Environments with
   External IT Teams, Single POC for Resolution of Environment Issues,
   Responsible for Coordination of Outside Vendor Environment Configuration)
   6. Content Management (Coordination Content Changes into Release
   Schedules)
