*Note from Hiring Manager* : Here’s the job description for the Senior
Elasticsearch/ELK Stack Engineer.  I’m looking for someone with significant
experience working with large Elasticsearch clusters ingesting ingesting
terabytes of data (petabytes is even better). Let’s hold back candidates
who are “light weight" Elasticsearch developers or administrators.



Responsibilities

•             Participate in the development of strategic goals for
leveraging big data.

•             Install, configure, and maintain ELK stack systems.

•             Work with engineering teams to optimize Elasticsearch data
ingest and search.

•             Collaborate with business intelligence teams to optimize
visualizations.

•             Architect horizontally scalable solutions (terabyte scale or
larger).

•             Employ best practices to ensure high availability.

•             Elasticsearch and Logstash performance and configuration
tuning.

•             Maintain documentation and troubleshooting playbooks.

•             Respond to and resolve access and performance issues.

•             Ability to work non-peak hours when needed.

•             Proactively monitor performance.

•             Maintain change control and testing processes for all
modifications and deployments.

•             Conduct research and make recommendations on big data
products, services, and standards.

Basic Requirements

•             BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related
technical degree.

•             2 or more years experience with Elasticsearch and Logstash
administration in a linux environment.

Preferred Qualifications

•             Deep working knowledge of and proven experience with
Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana.

•             Experience with Shell and Python scripting.

•             Experience working with and performance tuning large ELK
clusters.

•             Strong understanding of Elasticsearch index configuration
options.

•             Working knowledge of Kibana visualization strategies and
techniques.

•             Advanced knowledge of Elasticsearch sharing, partitioning,
aliases, watchers, etc.

•             Exposure to or experience with other logging systems such as
Splunk.
