what package I need to install.
libpthread_nonshared.a is part of the glibc package on my slackware
machine, so perhaps you have an outdated or mangled glibc install? Might

Actually, it probably does have GMP installed. GMP is, as far as I know,
part of the base system installed with FreeBSD 4.10. It should be in
/usr/include and /usr/lib.
