i see the following problem in freebsd 4.8 and 5.2.1 - but not in any of the
linux distros i've tried:

$ freshclam --datadir . --log freshclam.log

ERROR: Can't unpack file.
$ uname -a
FreeBSD bsdtest.foo.bar 5.2.1-RELEASE FreeBSD 5.2.1-RELEASE #0: Mon Feb 23
20:45:55 GMT 2004     [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/GENERIC  i386

while it may have something to do with freebsd, the versions i've tested on are
very disparate: 4.8 and 5.2.1; i have a feeling it has something to do with a
shared library the two versions have in common, but have absolutely no idea how
to get to the bottom of it by myself.

any clues?
