As with  99.9% of mailing list software, you must reply to the 
confirmation message to complete the unsubscribe. That message is sent 
to the address you _subscribed_ to.

Hi,

you can pipe the output to logger command. That will log to syslog with
configurable facility.priority. See man logger.
