Ok, you're probably wondering what I've been doing. Or precisely, why I've
not been doing anything. Well, lots of reasons. But principally I've been
working on some other non-computer related independent pursuits and also
getting my house rehab finished off. But I am back to work and have an
update on java.text for us. Basically, dates are now working. There are
still some kinks and such that will have to be worked out, but you should be
able to get some output, even if it isn't 100% right. Programs that depend
on date formatting and parsing will no longer crash midstream. The following
java.text classes should be working:

DateFormat
DateFormatSymbols
FieldPosition
Format
ParseException
ParsePosition
SimpleDateFormat

The aren't built by default so you'll have to compile them by hand if you
want to use them.

Daniel Rall is going to be helping me out by writing NumberFormat and
subclasses (which have not yet been written) and Jorge Aliss is going to be
helping by writing MessageFormat and subclasses (which have also not yet
been written). I'm going to start debugging all the collation and iterator
classes I have written. I'm also going to try to get through my backlog of
email and bug fixes.
