A bit off-topic: this is actually one of several reasons why I started development of my own music player, which uses a queue instead of a playlist. And I'm sure there are other music players similar to mine in this regard. It is my opinion that users shouldn't let most "modern media players" force things upon them; they can look around, and there might well be some other media player that's more to their liking.
