Re: [CM] Small problems with old-music5.f

2019-04-15 Thread Albert
Dear Bil,

Thanks for the very fast answer, so actually not used anymore maybe best to
change the name into e.g old-music5.f.archive ? Thiwould make its intention
clearer, now it looks like a usable program for an older format to me.

Best Regards,

Albert

old-music5.f is a transcription of 1975 XGP printer
output without any other editing. It is not intended
as a usable program, but as "sotfware archaeology";
music5.f is a version that runs in gfortran (or did
several years ago).

[CM] Small problems with old-music5.f

2019-04-15 Thread Albert
Dear all,

The file old-music5.f gives me / has some small problems.
When the file is not used anymore I would suggest to remove it
otherwise: I see a few things that are a bit strange:
- the line
10 FORMAT ('0PEAK AMPLITUDE WAS',I8/'0NUMBER OF SAMPLES OUT OF RANGE
WAS',I8)
is longer than the maximum line length for Fortran fixed form code (i.e.
72 chars)
- A number of times a TYPE statement is used as an output statement, but
this is a bit conflicting with the TYPE derived data type statement, maybe
best to replace it with a PRINT statement.

Best Regards,

Albert
