I’m a big believer in big anchors. And, as I’ve said before, an old USCG Chief taught me the rule of thumb is at least a pound of anchor and a foot of chain per foot of boat length. So my 38 has a 20 kg Bruce (44#) as primary anchor and a 45# CQR as backup on the bow rollers. I’ve dragged too

Adam, Like Fred, I replaced all my removable overhead panels (wooden panels with fabric) with probably the same thing that Fred is using but it’s been so long that I’m not sure. The replacement panels has a nice pebble finish that works with the original surface of the liner on the 37’. I

I just replaced my old breaker blowing, jamming, 14 year old windlass. It turns out that the 50 feet of 3/8 BBB chain and the 200 feet of 3/4 nylon rope were incompatible with the existing gypsy. Gypsies are selective about their rode so if I were buying new I would make sure it would work with

Bruce, If you are going to be cruising and adding more chain, I would think a windlass is a must. We have a 35 pound anchor and a short piece of stainless 3/8 chain. When my windlass failed I needed a second set of hands to hoist it. For the islands you need enough chain to keep the line off
