I feel stupid saying this because it’s trivial, but there’s a sandbar (actually submerged extension of a peninsula) in my lake that I’ve hit with every goddamned sailboat I’ve sailed there, from a Coronado 15 dinghy with the centerboard up to J/22s and Merit 25s and yes even my C 30 MK I.

Geoff, I've had Touche', 35-1, for 19 years. While not a live aboard, I spend many, many nights aboard every year. One thing you will find lacking is galley counter space. I added a fold down shelf on the navstation bulkhead to help. See:

I wouldn't worry too much about the Atomic 4. There is pretty good support for parts and reference online. As with any internal combustion engine the compression is probably the leading indicator of the internal wear and the years left before rebuild/replacement. The boat seems well maintained

Hum, I have a piece of sailcloth covering the halyard exit. Likely been there years, in the PNW rain. You could pick up a scrap from your local sailmaker, probably free from the scraps box, with adhesive back and stick it on. Or you could get an engineer to over-think it. . . 2 cents, Lee

I just got done painting one side of my mast, I used to use PPG Concept, the fellow at the paint store (this is a car paint store, BTW) recommended Matrix. It is a little confusing, it is all under the umbrella of Sherman Williams, but on the can it sais AIC, (Advanced Industrial Coatings.)

LDPE is the right plastic for welding Kracor tanks.  I ran short as it takes more than you think it will.  I went searching for LDPE plastic around the house and finally cut some old Tupperware plastic tops into strips.  Made for a funny look with a number of different colors, but it worked

Brian, If you go down the Sakonnet River, there are also town moorings in Fogland (Tiverton) and Third Beach (Middletown). We sometimes make an overnight stop on the way to Cuttyhunk and have always found an open mooring. Fogland is more protected and Third Beach can be choppy.

Hi Dave, So sorry to hear of your misadventure... However, look at it this way, it's always something, this year this is your something! I've been dealing with a paint job that went wrong for 3 seasons now.  Then when going to launch we found a leak at the cover plate for the center board.
