I've only sailed on three or four different C but they've all been great
boats. The 30-1 likes a bit more wind than some with what seems to be a sweet
spot around 12-15kt. The boat is solid and like a great machine, it behaves
just like one expects; no surprises. I was able to race the
Thanks Ron. That seems like a pretty good idea. Not sure that we get quite cold
enough here for me to follow suit. I’m still new to our 30-1 and eager to learn
more about her proper care and feeding.

Water leaks in on a warmer day and then freezes before I can get to it and
pump it out. No auto pump. Cheap anti-freeze works well 'til I visit the boat

On my LF 38 there were no rudder 'bushings', only a fiberglass shaft and upper
collarpretty clean and easy. Cleaned old grease with a 3M drill attachment
that fit perfectly and cleaned with some kerosene. Swabbed up the shaft and
tube with white lithium waterproof lube...replaced lube
I had bushings made locally by a machinist

We're so jealous! Meanwhile, I hope to get to our boat (near Victoria)
after the latest snowfall, and before tomorrow's forecasted 50kn winds.
If we don't find an offshore boat in the next few months, we will consider
finding one in S.Cal or Mexico and keeping Callisto for summer sailing in
BC.
Just thought I should update this list as ti my current "residence". Rebecca
Leah and I are currently sailing in the Sea of Cortez. I lest home in late
August and have not looked back. Not sure what summer time will bring. Whether
it is another boat back in the PNW, or an air-conditioned plot
Congratulations on the new purchase. Doug Mountjoy sv Rebecca Leah C & C

I’m just amazed that David said he was going to go to Florida and then actually
did it.
Welcome to the dark side, my friend. Let me know if you ever get to the better
coast.
All the best,

So where rich folk usually have a "summer home" and a "winter home", you
have a "summer yacht" and a "winter yacht"? :-D

Yup...hence "The Beast" moniker. Never handled her till we left Old Saybrook,
CT 11/11 for Jacksonville. Twin screw so not rocket science.Generally
uneventful trip. 3 weeks running time at 8.5 knots @ 4.5 gals per hour
including generator run time.

David,
As I await the snow up here in New England, I dream of your program. I
assume you stay in Fl 6 months plus to be avoid MA taxes? Also, what is the
plan for Rogue in the summer months? On the hard? Enjoy!

David, that sounds awesome, (especially since we are in the middle of an 8
