Jon, The cover plates on my 35-3 are through bolted to the deck. Getting access is a bit of pain, but it's doable. The bolts at the bottom end of the chain plate are pretty straight forward (and numerous). Not sure if this is a good candidate for welding. I would consider new replacements inst
