Bill Yes there is lots of water in most places. You are correct 2 locks and a swing bridge. There is another swing bridge to get get to the Baddeck area. There are probably a 1000 different coves anchorages that you could explore. There is minimal tide once in the lakes.
Dwight Craymon islands are on the to do list this year. We are at Clarke's cove tomorrow. Prob next week after we leave Baddeck. Hopefully we have good weather for the next 2 weeks.
