On the Yanmar QM, GM, HM series there is no turbo so the suction may not be
as strong or the intake pipe diameter is smaller so less force is felt on
the hand. Either way, I've stopped my 3HM35F engine numerous times by
covering the intake with my hand. Then again I'm not stopping it at full
Finding and identifying the fuel shut-off lever is a good thing for any skipper
with a diesel axillary engine--before you need to locate it when the engine
refuses to quit--don't ask me how I know!
OTOH, I would not recommend putting your hand over the air intake pipe/filter
housing with the
