I have done more reading and investigation over the last few days. One thing
is that it seems many mooring failures seem to be chafe rather than pendants
parting or cleat failures. But there are also many nylon rode failures in
hurricanes and violent storms. So here is my current pendant
During hurricanes I use at least 2 pennants if not more. They will be
staggered in length so the first one has all the strain and the others
don't have strain or chafe until the first one lets loose. I have never
had one chafe through, but it could happen. You *must* have a swivel, I

I don't know a lot about these, but will share some observations from when
we used a friend's buoy last year, which is in an area notorious for losing
boats:
I experimented with a few things, but the best option I came up with was a
nylon line from one bow cleat, through the buoy ring, then back

I am planning to get a new pendant for my mooring float and have been reading
up on the topic. I am surprised by the variety of solutions I am seeing and
few are complete. My plan was to put a nylon pendant and luggage hitch on a NE
Ropes cyclone dyneema segment on one arm of the double. The
