A mate of mine was delivering a raceboat into St Pete, Fla for SORC one night.
He was dragging the dinner saucepan behind the boat when the coast guard hailed
him to tell him they were doing one of their armed midnight "safety checks."
He replied "OK, but watch out for the pot behind the boat."
Offshore you many want saltwater for dishwashing except the final rinse. We
generally don't carry enough fresh water for long passages as it is without
doing the dishes in all fresh water. I had a big net bag I used to through all
the dishes in and just drag them for a bit. That worked great
