I have a sail pack custom made by my sail maker - Clark McKinney at Quantum Sails in Solomons, MD. It makes packing the sail quite simple but be warned, the boom height can still make zipping the pack and flaking down the sail a bit awkward. I shopped around to various sail makers and off the

If you zoom in on this picture you can get a bit of an idea what ours looks like. Since we were only anchored for the night we didn't put the leading edge cover on. I don't know where we got the term from but we call that cover the "horse collar".

This is what our main looks like after just dropping it, without taking any time to zip the cover shut or to put the separate front cover on (similar to Josh's setup).

I agree with everyon here.  I put mine on a year ago when the 37/40+ had a main cover that needed immediate replacement.  It not only makes the main really easy to reply and zip back up (eliminating flaking, tyingand putting on the cover), the sail drops onto it.  I added one othe thing to

Pegathy has a stack pack made by Chesapeake sailmakers. It's wonderful. Head to wind, drop the main, zip it up. Well, not quite that easy, usually have to push the sail of the top edge of the pack and inside, but close. The front comes off and the pack can be lashed to the boom for racing,

Hi Edd Rod Stright (C 99 Equinox) had one on his former boat (Frers 33). I raced with him one Wednesday evening when he had just returned from a delivery and the Stack Pack was not yet replaced with his racing main. I was very surprised at the performance from this sail. After the race it

Mike, Thanks. I don’t race the Enterprise any more (can’t fit any more trophies in the case) and now only use her for day sailing and cruising. I didn’t raise the main once last year simply because it’s such a PITA to flake and tie up when dropping the sail, especially when it’s just two of
