I did some experimenting one time with a double reefed main/engine/jib
variables in some snotty weather.
If you really need to pinch to make a lee shore etc…motor sail with 2/3rd reef
and sock the main down.
If however you have no need to pinch (and/or can crack off a bit) a small main

batteries that are both inexpensive and robust.I fortunately have the
headroom for such batteries in the cockpit locker. Shelf has been reinforced

the 12v refrig compressor is in the same air space as engine. Both very happy

I may be repeating myself here, but it bears repeating. Check your boat
coverage. BoatIUS had reimbursement coverage before they switched to GEICO as
their carrier last year. Now it is depreciated value coverage. Reimbursement
coverage pays for replacing damages up to the agreed value.
I just replaced the VHF wire in my mast and crimped on new connectors. Would
like to test it to make sure all is well before the mast goes up in the spring.
Any suggestions from those much smarter than I regarding these matters?

We did that for a few years and The saltwater still sits in the input head
hoses and the head still smelled. A full on fresh water flush us requires. We
"T"ed it off the head sink drain. No issues with a possible back flow valve
failure and the resultant ick.
Without a rudder indicator and compass and their inputs your flying blind
