Cranes galore! To add to the northern Front Range crane sightings, here are
today's sightings posted from Douglas & Elbert counties:
5:15: I heard them before I saw them - a flock of about 60 birds, circling over
my house (southwest of Castle Rock). I ran inside, grabbed my binoculars and by

moving (migrating) or preparing to migrate (feeding frenzy).
At Jackson Reservoir (Morgan County) we had flocks of Sandhill Cranes in the
hundreds flying over in waves. We'd hear them and find them high overhead

today to see what we could see.
We found some nice mixed flocks of birds. At Dixon, as Eric reported
we had a sweet Magnolia Warbler, nervous Ruby-crowned Kinglets, a
sneaky Orange-crowned Warbler, buzzy Blue-gray Gnatcatch

A beautiful V formation of about 400 cranes flew over us on our morning walk.
Also seen were Mountain Bluebirds and a Northern Harrier. Yesterday there were
two Redtail Hawks hunting in our yard.
