Cole Wild arrived bright and early this morning to see our Eastern Towhee.
She was a little late in showing up...so I had gone to another room try and
spot her from a different location. He called out Northern Parula...Paul
and I rushed back in long enough to observe the bird for about 2 minutes
The discussion about Dippers nesting on Cherry Creek and a call from a former
Castlewood Canyon State Park naturalist (Susan Smith) reminded me that Dippers
used to nest on Cherry Creek in the park, for 2-3 years maybe in the mid
2000's. I know of no obsevations at all in the last several

About 1:15 this afternoon Bob Andrews, Michael Kiessig, and I found a
Winter Wren in the same area as last winter - south of the foot

On my way back from Chicago, I stopped at Jumbo this morning and found
almost nothing on the water when I arrived. I was told that 2 days ago the
reservoir was covered with snow geese but they must have left to feed and
hadn't returned.
I did find:
2 Common Loons
Some puddle ducks

At Joe Roller's urging, I am updating our post from earlier this
afternoon. Bob Andrews, Michael Kiessig, and myself found what we
believe to be a Pacific Wren in the same area as a Winter Wren was
reported last winter. In fact, where we saw today's bird was on and
under the same log
Mike and all,
That is exactly where Mary Cay Burger and I saw our Pacific Wren on 10 Feb
2010 per my Avisys. I posted it at the time as probably pacificus. It was
a dark rusty Winter Wren. We got many good, close binocular looks at him as
he sang and flitted under the log and on top of it and
