Ken Kinyon reported a male Varied Thrush in his back yard this morning in the
Longmont Estates neighborhood. If it shows up again I will let the list know if
viewing is possible. I looked around the neighborhood this evening with no
luck.

Hi all,
I took a walk down to Cherry Creek State Park today (Saturday,
Christmas Day), from my sister's home.
As most of you probably know, Cherry Creek Reservoir is largely
frozen, but there are a few leads in the ice & pockets of open water.

On a midday hike I encountered my lifer Snow Bunting at the top of
Reservoir Ridge Natural Area just West of Fort Collins, CO. It was
hanging out in a scrubby patch of Mountain Mahogany, we were able to
get very close to the bird and observe it for several minutes. For

Going back out to get a picture but each step I take drives them further-out.
The male has beautiful field markings; white striped wings; pure white breast;
quite spectacular. He's surrounded by females (my opinion) or immatures.

The female/immature Black Scoter at Baseline Reservoir in Boulder, first seen
by Kaempher on November 28, is still present today, this time in open water on
the northwest side. This reservoir is about 20 percent open, with most of the
open water at the south end. There are also Common Goldeney

The *Harris's Sparrow* reported yesterday but missing from rare bird alert
made a brief appearance at our backyard feeders again this morning. We have
had a mob 30+ *Pinyon Jays* visit us for the past 2 days. The *White-winged
