The light morph juvenile LONG-TAILED JAEGER continues to be seen through
1015am, looking west from the State Wildlife Area on the NW Side of Pueblo
Reservoir (this is the area where the Black-legged Kittiwake was last
November). The jaeger was seen this morning by Van Truan, Robb Hines, Clif
I just now heard and then saw a flock of a couple dozen Sandhill Cranes
winging south high over the north end of N Table Mt in Jeffco. Also
Mountain Bluebirds gather daily along the fence lines of N Table Mt Park
prairie dog colony to catch insects.

After viewing the Long-tailed Jaeger and Surf Scoters at Pueblo Reservoir,
made easy by Brandon pointing them out, I took the long way back to Colorado
Springs and stopped by Holcim Wetlands. The gate at Holcim was locked and
there was red Danger tape tied to the top of the gate. Does anyone know
Holcim Wetlands was closed for a few hours this morning while they cut down
and removed a large cottonwood that was hanging dangerously over the south
trail. They re-opened the wetlands this afternoon

I have a Red-naped Sapsucker drilling wells like crazy in my Russian olive
tree, and feeding from them. A new yard bird!

Another day like yesterday, minus the late morning mini-flock of Chippers.
A mix of expected and unexpected. Banded 19, with 1 return (also caught 8
recaps from earlier this season):
Downy Woodpecker1
Rock Wren 1
Ruby-crowned Kinglet 4
Townsend's Solitaire1 (FOS)

I spent the morning in Lake City, before heading up to American Basin. Both
cemeteries where hoping today with Red-necked Sapsucker, all three
nuthatches, a Downy Woodpecker, and a few Yellow-rumped Warblers (Myrtle).
Driving through the neighborhoods on the north side of town, I came across

My Hinsdale trip was cut short, so I headed to Mineral County. First stop
was the pond at CO149 CR520. Right off, I noticed *Common Merganser*s
perched on some rocks. Scoping the pond, I noticed a single *Red-breasted
Merganser* making its way across the pond. According to the checklist on
CO borders :
Antero , Spinney Mountain and Eleven mile reservoir were quiet today , no
loons , no scoters. highlight was a juvenile American Golden Plover in the
SW corner of Antero.

One Northern Shrike was at the fenced substation just SW of CR 122 x CR 101.
Plumage appeared adult- like, but the lower mandible had much paleness to it. I
know nothing about NSHR bill coloration. Another f/imm. Lark Bunting was a few
miles east of here.
