My sister and I are planning on a trip to Tucson via New Mexico and are
wondering if any of you have tips or ideas as to southern New Mexico and AZ
birding?
Thanks!

Brief stops at the South Marina and SWA at the west end of Pueblo Reservoir
turned up the following:
Lesser Black-backed Gull (2 ad)
Great Black-backed Gull (1ad)
GLAUCOUS GULL (found by the DFO group at the South Marina. Looks like a
2nd or maybe 1st winter bird. I'll post photos to Flickr
At first I had no luck with the Jaeger from the Handicap fishing
bridge side. A trip around to the boat launch on the NW side turned
up a Common Loon, just a few feet off shore for great views. Ready to
accept that as a consolation prize, I was about the leave when the
Pomarine Jaeger came

I just did that trip last week. A few recs:

While on my way to Julesburg to attempt to find the common ground-dove, I saw a
turkey vulture on my way through Logan County. I thought this was a pretty
late sighting, so should report it. I did not find the ground-dove. It was
very cold and windy.

then Ira Sanders’ DFO field trip group. Bird was located west of
Oops!!! I was just told that Valco Ponds is in Pueblo County, not Fremont

Today I took about 300 photos of the gorgeous four Trumpeter Swans at Lake
Estes. While reviewing my photos this afternoon, I discovered that one is a
rare color variant. Three of the four swans have black legs and black feet. One
does not. I'm seriously color blind, but I knew the fourth one
Birders, I had a single TRUMPETER SWAN at Spring Park Reservoir just
north of El Jebel in Eagle County. Good numbers of Barrows Goldeneye
and other expected waterfowl.

Greetings All,
Today Bill Schmoker and I wandered around sw. Weld County. For most of the day,
we were buffeted by winds varying from strong to gale force.

Out at Lathrop State Park we were lucky enough to see a Greater Roadrunner. It
posed quite nicely for photos.
