I was up at Saint Vrain State Park (near Longmont) yesterday (2/25) -- and
while I did not see anything exotic, the waterfowl variety was quite rewarding.
Waterfowl was my goal. This location lends itself to either binoculars or
scope. Some of the ponds still have thin ice along the
Yesterday Urling and I looked at 20-Mile Pond the Equestrian Pond, both in
Parker. A lot of ducks, especially on the Equestrian Pond (over 300). Most
numerous, 112 Ring-necked and 78 Redheads. The mix included 11 duck species,
including four Barrow's Goldeneyes (two pairs). We also walked

Sorry for the late post. On Friday at about 11:30am, while biking up to
Ward, I spotted a Winter Wren flitting across Left Hand Creek. The
location was 1.9 miles up Left Hand Canyon Dr. from Buckingham Park which
is located at the intersection of Old Stage and Left Hand Canyon Dr.
This morning while at Lathrop State Park we saw 4 Tundra Swans. Photo may

I did a bird trip to the Monte Vista Refuge this am and numbers have swelled to
about 5,000 birds, plus or minus. Best places to see them are around the
turnouts, just south of the Refuge buildings along Hwy 15. There is a group of

The male Mexican Duck that was first found on January 1st, continues in Pueblo
City Park in Pueblo at Duck Pond and grass nearby. Nine Pueblo folks were able
to see it this afternoon and many more photos were taken. This might be
longest staying Mexican Duck ever in Colorado, as I
Driving along next to the S. Platte in downtown this afternoon found
what I'm pretty sure is a greater white-fronted hanging out with a
small flock of Canada's on the S. Platte at 31st. and Brighton. Was
just north of the bridge there. Have pics but haven't down-loaded

Today Bill Schmoker and I birded along the Platte R in Denver, s. from 74th and
s. from 88th. At 74th, under the bridge, there was a Mallard x Gadwall (male).
At 88th, about 1/3 mi s. of 88th, there was a Mallard x N Shoveler (male). At

On my last three visits to Red Rocks to study the Rosy-Finch in the
interim between flock appearances I have had extensive opportunity to
study the Juncos.
On my Last visit 2/24/12 In addition to the standard options there
were 3 White-winged, 2 Cassiar's and several different hybrids. I
