Hi
Currently there is a lot of water and shore bird activity at Barr Lake,
although nothing that would qualify for the rare bird alert that I could see.
I started at 6:30 this morning, the great eastern sun was just rising and the
light across the lake for birding couldn't have been better,
My yard has been very quiet though the spring migration and into summer. Have
had a one or two pairs of Bullocks that have been coming to the sugar water at
my window since about the middle of May. Hummers (females and young males)
started coming one by one over night since July first week
FYI -- if you want to send a donation to W.I.L.D. Bird (rehab center) in

Elaine Coley, Loveland(and Jim Thompson) were up there with spouses -- what an awesome drive up to the Mt. Evans summit.

and found the Hooded and Grace's Warblers and a single Acorn Woodpecker in
the snag by the lot. The Hooded was not singing, but quietly feeding in
the low Gambel's oak understory upstream from the courts. Funny that I had
I drove to Pueblo Mtn Park yesterday to see if I could get some photo
documentation of breeding by the Acorn Woodpeckers that have been at this
location since found in June, 2012. I observed both a female and a male
bringing food, insects, to the nest hole and taking out what is likely
fecal
I perusedthe Draft EIS and pulled out strings of relevant
paragraphs – it’s 11 pageslong (better than 1000 pages). The excerpts include
some of the bird comments,a little on other species (e.g., N. Leopard Frog;
mitigation, water levelfluctuation, and the comments on the broader
Drove back up to my sister's home, about halfway between Colorado City and
Beulah to try to get photos of female Magnificent Hummingbird. We did
manage some pretty good ID photos. This is very private property...sits far
back from the road. Photos can be seen at CFO Facebook Page at the
