Hi all,
I walked from Snakeskin Picnic Area, below Pueblo Reservoir east to about 50
yards past the Valco Ponds parking lot.
Here are the fun things I saw for today:
Osprey - 2
Hermit Thrush - 2
Hooded Merganser - 2
Common Merganser - 4
Eastern Bluebird - 4
Common Yellowthroat - 1

Hello All,
The Golden-crowned Sparrow appeared just after I put some seed out at
the Red Rocks feeders this morning around 8:30 AM. I observed the
bird two more times at the feeders - both about 20 minutes apart. No
other rarities at the feeders today.

The storm brought in a good mix of birds to Union Res., east of Longmont in
Weld County Friday. 5 Black-Bellied Plovers were along the NW shore and 3
Surf Scoters were feeding close to the south shore at times. Lots of
other ducks joined the thousands of grebes, lots to look at. Bill and

After visiting Red Rocks this morning, I drove the roads in Bear
Creek Lake Park (BCLP). The most interesting birds seen along the
roads included a first year Harris's Sparrow, 3 Northern Shrikes, and
a Prairie Falcon.
The Harris's Sparrow was alone along the road right
Saw my FOS northern shrike yesterday and a small flock of American
tree sparrows today near the Wildlife office in the El Paso Co portion
of Ft. Carson off Hwy 115. Also have blue jays, Steller's jays, and
western scrub jays, as well as Oregon, slate-colored, pink-sided, and
gray-headed juncos.
Birds I found at Last Chance, the Oasis and behind the motel today from
9-10:30.

The 2011 Evergreen/ID Springs CBC was No. 1 in the U.S. for MOCH (587) and
PYNU (723) again!!
Congratulations! We usually get the highest counts for these two every CBC!
Any other consistent CBC species highs in CO? Next year we can search the
electronic copy to find out!

Hi Cobirders. Did anyone see the Nelson's Sparrow today at Chico Basin?
A birder /driver and I in my car a Suberu Forester plan to go
tomorrow arriving between 10 and 11 AM . I hope it is still there of
course but will check
birds there also. Any help finding it will be appreciated .
Nothing unusual, but it is that time of year at Marston Reservoir. 2 Common
Loons were seen today, along with another one, which was too far for me to ID.
I did not have time to ID other birds. Birds were seen from the eastern side,

Today I spotted a Harlan's Red-tailed Hawk in Canon City. As rare as
Harlan's are here, it would seem more likely that this would be the same
bird as I found several days ago. However today's bird is more an
intermediate morph while the earlier bird looked like a dark morph. This
one has a
