Hi Everyone--
I visited various places in Boulder and Larimer Counties today 1/13. The two
Trumpeter Swans were still at Lower Hoffman Lake in Loveland, sleeping on
the ice. I had a good view from the vacant lot near the end of Park Avenue
(from US 34, go north on Boise, right on Park, follow the
Yesterday a flurry at my back feeder and a Merlin landed in a small tree at
eye level just 8 ft from my window!
It stayed there looking for an opportunity of one of the small birds that
had scattered.
I had a good 4 min of close up viewing with my binos!
I am not very experienced in raptor ids

I spent the first 5 hours of the day walking up and down the hedgerows at
Tamarack Ranch. That area is still incredibly birdy, with the show including
800 robins, several hundred juncos (including 5 WW Juncos and 5 Cassiar
Juncos), 11 Red-bellied Woodpecker, 49 Eastern

I had some time late this afternoon (1/13) to run around Boulder county to
improve my year list. I headed straight for Teller Farms because I was lacking
sparrows and there have been many there recently according to eBird. I came up
