January 18 update - The Redpoll-looza continues daily - I think the flock
has increased by a few birds and I am seeing a lot of orange-variant
individuals. I have added a couple more thistle feeders out front and
warmer temps allow me to add more water to the un-heated birdbaths. Birds

The Redpolls continue to appear at my feeders on a daily basis. Since the
recent warming trend, they are making an appearance in number around 830 -
900a. After that, their arrivals are more individualistic and sporadic.

Yesterday I camped out at the Ft. Collins Museum of Discovery feeders,
hoping to spot a Hoary Redpoll. Despite the frequent attention from
raptors: Red-tailed Hawk, Cooper's Hawk, Merlin (2) and Kestrel; the
Redpoll flock of ~75 birds was actively feeding most of the morning.

All,
Following yesterday's COBIRDS report, I headed to the Platte River in
north Denver this morning. The Rusty Blackbird flock was still under the
I-76 bridge and along the banks to the footbridge immediately downstream.
At one point, I counted 10 birds in the flock. I then walked north to
Birders,
Today Tammy and I went up to Boulder County and about the best we could do
was an adult Lesser Black-backed Gull at Teller Lake. Also present were
Thayer's Gulls.
No swans at Valmont. Just Canvasbacks and other assorted ducks. there were
only 5 gulls on the ice when we were there.
The two Trumpeter Swans (1 adult, one juvenile) were still at Lower Hoffman
Lake in Loveland this morning, directly behind McKee Medical Center. Park
at the rear of the medical center and use the nature trail to view them
safely from the lake overlook. Lower Hoffman Lake was packed with

Ah Yes, this Filby fellow, I had the opportunity to meet him one time,
at Red Rocks, the conversation revolved around his soon departure, to go
look at Penguins.
