After briefly hearing a male broad-tailed hummingbird on April 12 or 13, I
put up a feeder..
It promptly froze and had 5-6 inches of snow on it, with the 16 we got up
here.
I thawed it out and refilled it on 4-19, and saw a female hummingbird visit
it on

Hi CoBirders --
Wondering if anyone keeps track of big day records for Colorado counties
and if so, where? I'm planning for my ASGD Birdathon run, and it would be
cool to market it to donors as a potential record-breaker! (Interested in
Denver Co.)
A few birds of interest lately:

Hello Folks,
Rob Raker and I were able to observe the Golden-crowned Sparrow and
Lincoln's Sparrow early this morning at the feeders behind the Red
Rocks Trading Post. The Slate-colored Fox Sparrow was a no-show in
the 45 minutes we were there, but Kiki Widjaja reported seeing the Fox
Hi Chris COBirds,
I thought I'd take this opportunity to plug for the ABA...
ABA members can access Big Day totals online at http://aba.org/bigday/
I'm not sure how far back the data goes, but I do believe you can search
geographically.
Good luck,

Four Franklin's Gulls
One Semipalmated Plover
Two Marbled Godwits
I currently have at least four Cassin's Finches coming to my feeder by

see Clark's Grebes somewhat close to Lakewood (Jefferson County). I have
seen several Western Grebes this spring, and a few that I couldn't tell,
but I would like to see a definite Clark's. I don't have a scope, only a

I spotted an unusual looking hawk in a tree while driving in Canon City
today so quickly stopped and found it was a Broad-winged Hawk, a fairly
rare species here and the first I have seen this year. I was able to get a
couple of very good photos of it and have posted them on my Birds and

Hi All,
At around 4pm (4/22/13) during my run, I found a Broad-winged Hawk on Old
South Saint Vrain Road near Lyons. It was perched fairly low in a tree by
the scum pond 0.7 miles from the east entrance. Later, we relocated it just
a tad further up the road in a different tree.
