Several weeks ago I found a pair of Gray Flycatchers nesting in a juniper
in Red Canyon Park which is about 10 miles north of Canon City (and a
mountain park belonging to the City of Canon City). I went out of town so
didn't get the photos up then thought I would wait until the babies fledged

All day today, a white hummingbird with pink feet & bill has visited my
front yard feeders. He would come every 30-45 minutes, but early this
evening he has been here quite a lot. Sean Walters and I think, but are not

We had a female Blackburnian Warbler (#117)--good look, right outside
kitchen window in crabapple--in yard Sunday morning. There was a second
warbler in tow "could" have been the male (only had a fleeting
glimpse)--sparrows ran them out of yard.

We took a trip up to the Pawnee Grassland this weekend. We saw a Solitary
Sandpiper in a mud puddle on the road near the buttes. I know there have
been many sightings of them this year on the front range, but not so many
out on the plains.
There was lots of other bird activity, but nothing excit
A Black Phoebe was seen along the river in my yard yesterday. This is a
species that I have been anticipating would show up with their ongoing
expansion. Next closest place I know of is the Old Hotchkiss water
treatment plant (about 8 miles downstream) where they may have bred this
