I just observed a modest number of Sandhill Cranes (8) from my office

sunny skies.

The crack of dawn at Prospect Park turned out to be a little too early in
the day. Cloudy, cold, and damp with a slight breeze made birding a little
slow. Things picked up once the sun came out around 9:30 AM, but still
nothing too unusual for the day.
The highlight for me was some rather
Hi All,
Went for a walk in Williams Canyon this morning just outside Manitou
Springs (El Paso). We saw a number of good birds, though nothing too out of
the ordinary. Interesting were Clark's Nutcrackers, though - the canyon is
under 7000ft. There seems to be a pretty good pinyon crop this
Hi all,
The facebook group I manage received a reliable report (with photos) of the
Cape May Warbler at Grandview Cemetery for today, Oct 12. I had looked for
it yesterday for two hours, to no avail, but apparently it's still there.
It was reported to be in the same general area that it was

Hey all!
To piggy-back on Eric's post...I was at Grandview from 130-5pm this
afternoon. The Cape May was present this afternoon. I was there with a few
birders I had not met before (Joel, Dale, and Fawn). Joel and Fawn took
photos of a bird that looked decent for the Cape May but I had
Andre Breton and I spent the entire day birding at Jackson Lake S.P. We tallied
78 species (14 shorebird species), with the following highlights:
Snow Goose-1
Greater Scaup-1
Sandhill Crane - 500
Black-bellied Plover-2
American Golden Plover-1
Pectoral Sandpiper - 80
Red-necked Phalarope -
It was brought to my attention that I may have sounded a bit crass about my
reservations. After reading my own post i could see how that could be read
into. I wanted to be clear that the reservations I had were in regards to the
photos, not the fellow birders!
Thanks,
Josh Bruening
