Hi Folks,
I did some birding around Fountain Creek Regional Park and Big Johnson
Reservoir in El Paso County this morning.
Fountain Creek was pretty lively feeling, with several good birds for
November. The best bird here was a *Winter Wren* near the mile 18 marker.
Though very shy, the bird
David Chartier and I walked through all of Rock Canyon Picnic Area, below
Pueblo Reservoir dam, on the north side of the Arkansas River this morning. We
found some interesting birds for November. The best birds were five Rusty

Hello, Birders.
I recently received in the mail the latest issue (vol. 47, no. 4) of Colorado
Birds. This is a noteworthy issue in several regards, foremost among which is
that it is the first under the kindly and skilled editorship of PETER BURKE.
More on that in a moment, but, first--and I'm
I just looked out in the backyard and saw the dove perched in walnut tree.
It first showed up in the yard in late March and the last time I heard or
saw it was during the first day of the September rains.

Four of us went to scope Chatfield Res. after the DFO birding trip to the S
Platte Reservoir and adjacent lakes.
At the Heron Rookery overlook, we found one Common Loon. At the handicapped
fisherperson's point we found a Pacific Loon swimming closely and diving

Today at Union Reservoir there was an imm Long-tailed Duck along the
northwestern side. Also at Union there was one Thayer's Gull, 2 Common Loons,
100 RB Mergansers, and a Mexican Duck x Mallard (male).
Then I went off to enjoy the Bay-breast.
Good Birding

I have a couple pictures of the Bay-breasted Warbler on Smugmug. You can barely
see some insects it might have been feeding on. Brucecyg.Smugmug.com in the
Record Shots gallery. I'm not sure if any of those insects can be identified
though.

Birders,
After leaving the Bay-breasted Warbler in Boulder we tried for the Little
Gull and stuck out between 1:30 and 2:10 today. After running 2 raptor
survey routes in Boulder Co we tried again and in the last of the failing
light at 4:45, Tammy found the little bugger floating with a
I made the pilgrimage down to Boulder's Bay-breasted Warbler, to see the bird,
of course, and to hopefully figure out the why of this event. The answer was
very straight forward: zillions of aphids in that pine tree closest to Center
Green Drive (essentially none, at least down low where one
Among the Cackling and Canada Geese (including a partially leucistic

My pup was distressed that there was a safety fence blocking the St. Vrain
Greenway trail to Golden Ponds, but I was glad

COBirders,
Glenn Walbek and I headed out rather early this morning to head down to
southeast CO. We wanted to try for Western Screech-Owl but unfortunately we
did not leave quite early enough. We decided to try around Rocky Ford SWA and
we got there just before 5 AM. There was nobody there
