Hannah and Andrew and I are back from the 12th annual High Plains Snow Goose
Festival, held this past Thursday-Sunday, February 20-23, 2014. The highlight
was a very surprising, bright red, adult male, softly warbling, ridiculously
cooperative Pine Grosbeak feeding in a cottonwoo
The Golden Ponds at Hover and 3rd Ave in Longmont has been reopened since
the September floods. There were 8 Bald Eagles (4 adult, 2 sub-adult, 2
imm) hanging around the ponds yesterday (2/23/14). The ponds haven't been
restocked with fish yet, so I can't say whether or not they're just using
