Things are very dry here, per usual. Highlights birding within 5 miles of
downtown Lamar on Tuesday, 10/28:
Riverside Cemetery (off Maple Street e of Main):
Field Sparrow (2, along edge of alfalfa field north of cemetery)
Savannah Sparrow (10, ditto)
Vesper Sparrow (2, ditto)
Lincoln's Sparrow
This morning in a flock of pink-sided juncos I had a distinct white-winged
junco in the flock.
The birds were near the restrooms / playground on the S. side of the park
near the parking lot.

Right now there are 2 Mourning Doves, 10 Eurasian Collared Doves, and 12
White-winged Doves.

Join the High Plains Environmental Center for a morning of birding around
Equalizer Lake in Loveland this Sunday Nov. 2. We will walk approx. 2
miles on sidewalks and on level walking paths to observe gulls, waterfowl,
sparrows and other birds. The extensive mudflat at the south end of the
Amazingly, the Golden-crowned Sparrow that Scott Severs found at the Teller
Farms trailhead on Valmont Road in November 2010 has returned to the same
location for a fifth winter! We can only imagine where it goes during the
summer.

I just got a call from someone at Fort Collins Parks Department. There are
apparently 2 swans that have been hanging out at Fossil Creek Reservoir for
the last couple days. The ID is uncertain, but hopefully someone has a
chance to go check this out and get a photo.

Hi all,
A small group of birders was treated to some close looks of the surf scoter in
the south area of Grasmere Lake around 3:30 today, October 30. The scoter was
near the south shore by the tennis courts. After about ten minutes, the bird
swam away toward the east shore of the lake.
