Amongst the numerous waterfowl at Big Johnson Reservoir , El Paso County
this morning was an immature/female type Black Scoter and a Common Loon .

Aaron Shipe and I just located the Red-throated Loon at the SE end of the lake.
Whitish face and small upturned bill were evident through the scope. Also
Bonaparte 's Gulls, Great Blue Herons, GW Teals, Western Grebes an a Bald Eagle
fly-by.

Yesterday a group of us birded Escalante Canyon. In the area known as
Escalante Forks in the upper end of the canyon, we observed 12 Lewis's
Woodpeckers in narrow leaf cottonwood riparian areas along the North Fork
of Escalante Creek and the main fork of Escalante Canyon, a relatively
small area
