David Dowell, Sean Walters and I ventured to Jackson County. An adult
Tricolored Heron near the road on the town side of Walden Reservoir was
definitely the star highlight. Also on Walden Res was a juv Sabine's Gull and a
male Mexican Duck!!

A very slow morning for birds at Barr - We spent most of our time replacing
nets destroyed by marauding Bambis (lost 5 this morning).
We did catch our first of the season (and likely only) Blue Jay, our 4th
Cassin's Vireo, and a few others. Here's the breakdown:

Today's first net round yielded a young female Broad-winged Hawk, a bird
that had only been banded once before now and that was all the way back in
2002. So, another pretty exciting morning here at Chico Basin Ranch!!
Other than that early morning excitement, it was pretty slow and we

Hi all -
I went out to Baseline Reservoir outside of Boulder this morning to see if
the Sabine's Gull was still hanging around, and to see what else was out
there as well. The gull was still hanging around the north end of the
reservoir, moving around from time to time. There was a Common
The juvenile Sabine's Gull present yesterday at Chatfield State Park was still
present this morning.
The bird alternates between sitting on the end of the sand spit and actively
foraging between the spit and Plum Creek delta, potentially presenting good
photographic opportunities for a patient
