Just wanted to make folks aware that a local landowner has released a
number of Ring-necked Pheasants in the area of Pathfinder Park which is
located off H115 between Canon City and Florence. It was expected that
they will disperse in the area and I saw my first one today. They will

The John Martin Reservoir CBC was held today. A total of 14 people took
part. Our final total was 117 species, a new record for the count. Over
a quarter of a million birds were counted, likely a new record for
individual birds tallied for a Colorado CBC. I'm going to keep this

The female type Black Scoter and Long-tailed Duck were on South Platte
Reservoir this afternoon between 1:10 and 1:45, seen from the southeast
corner of the res. However, the second female Long-tailed Duck is much
closer and easily seen on the nearby Blackrock Lake. Also nice to study
I'd guess that it's one of those *Branta* types that remains a resident of
Canada year-round.

adult female sharp-shinned hawk sitting high in a tree at Coal Mine and
Robincrest around 10:30 AM.
Three hours later, traveling eastbound on Coal Mine, this time at Kipling Ave,
there was an adult golden eagle
