The Laughing Gull initially reported by Steve Mlodinov on July 9 was still
present this morning, in the more eastern body of water(Lower Queens Lake). It
was with a group of other gulls (California, Ring-billed, Franklin's, and a
Herring) and terns (Forster's and a Caspian). It was best seen by

Certainly one of the most exciting story lines in Colorado birding in recent
years (Purple Sandpiper, the 500th species on the state list, and Broad-tailed
Hummingbird double brooding would be among the others for me) has been the
discovery of persistent pop
The Poncha Springs staked out Dickcissels were present along County Road
128, at least six singing birds present. Sands Lake is Salida continues to
have male Barrow's GoldenEye and three Common GoldenEye.

Yesterday I took my nearly-annual hike to Thunder Lake in Wild Basin. This
hike takes me past Calypso Cascades, the home of at least one Pacific Wren
over the last two summers, so I knew to listen. As I approached the
