The Trumpeter Swan at Lower Derby was still present today at 4:20 PM at the
far northern end of the lake.

Tomorrow is the start of Christmas Bird Count season. I hope that every
CO-birder has selected a nearby CBC to join (or, if you're like me, nine nearby
CBCs to join). I participated in my first CBC 38 years ago in Longmont. I wish
that I had kept track, but I'm sure that I am over 250 at this
Another interesting bird was an intermediate Snow Goose (white x blue) at
the Environmental Learning Center pond, just on left-hand pond as you drive
in. I saw it yesterday (seen while looking for the Harris's Hawk). Looked
like a fairly typical intermediate. I had not seen one in a while.

Hi
A Pacific Loon, patrolling around in the North west section of the reservoir,

I thought I would swing by Boulder Res. to see the reported Trumpeter Swan,
but I wasn't able to locate it. There were three Snow Geese on the west
side of 51st, which is on the way to the reservoir from the Diagonal. Dodd
Lake had a Greater White-fronted Goose hanging with 800+ Canada/Cacklers.
Searched for over 3 hours and walked 5.5 miles around Riverbend Ponds
Natural Area, Running Deer Natural Area, and the Colorado Welcome Center
without spotting the Harris's Hawk this morning (12/13/17).

Hey all,
I saw a snow goose while driving north on Ward Road at 48th this morning
about 9:30am. It was mixed in with a flock of about 20 Canadian geese. I
believe there may also have been a second one, a juvenile, in the group as
well. The flock was on the east side of Ward, between 48th
This morning (12/13), I took my newly adopted dog, Andre, to Chapel Hill
Memorial Gardens. There, we saw the Harris's Sparrow that Cynthia Madsen,
Dave Hill, and I first saw at the cemetery on December 3. It seems to be
visiting feeders at an adjacent home, along with a collection of juncos,
Thomas Heinrich found a juvenile Trumpeter Swan at the NW side of Boulder
Reservoir yesterday. It’s still here this morning, although it just flew
towards the SE bays.
