The immature male Costa's Hummingbird in my yard in Las Animas, Bent
County CO has been present and easily seen from just before sunrise
through at least 6:20 p.m today. I will post tomorrow morning if it
returns. Birders are still welcome. Since hummingbirds migrate during
the day,
Today was a slower day here at the ranch, with only 27 captures (though it
felt like more!) There was a Cassin's Kingbird vocalizing near the station,
and I saw a large number of Blue Grosbeaks and White-crowned Sparrows
moving about. I have started to submit Ebird lists from my banding
I saw a Sabine's Gull a few days ago on a spit out from the bird banding
station, but haven't noticed any other gulls except Ring-billed and
California.

Greetings from the Western Slope! We opened our banding station at Ridgway
State Park on Tuesday 9/7. It's been a slow season here, with 81 birds of
22 species banded in the last week. 4 hatch year Black-chinned Hummingbirds
