I am new to birding, but this entire thread has been both informative and
hilarious. The perfect combination. Lol. :-)

Just hoping you all can confirm (or correct) my ID of pine siskin on these?
(I’m pretty much always wrong when it comes to the finches. LOL)
Thanks so much!

Huge thank you to those who responded! Now I know house finches can be many
different colors. :-)
Thanks again!

Thanks for your help!

Thanks, everybody, for your input. Unanimous opinion on this one is
Cassins. I’m just glad I was right in saying not a house finch! I was going
to feel really silly otherwise. Lol. Thanks again!

isn’t a lot to go on, but was unable to come up with any possibilities except
maybe a starling. But when I showed him the starling, he didn’t think so. Any

Thanks to those who answered! I had a feeling I was wrong, and that it was
going to be a juvenile of some other bird. But I was still way off. Lol,

I settled on chipping sparrow? Does that seem correct?

able to spot down there. Based on eBird, it looks like indigo buntings might be
a possibility, and *maybe* a painted bunting (although looks like I’ll be right
on the tail end of their time in the area, so that one’s less likely). Anyway...
Have a great day! :-)

Thanks for all your help, everybody. Not sure why my app doesn’t want to show
me thrushes. But no wonder I wasn’t finding it in my books. I was in the
totally wrong section, trying to make it a sparrow! LOL> Still lots to learn.

Same thing at my house in FC. I'm very new at this so wasn't sure if that
normal for this time of year? But even in the mornings, I don't see or hear
the birds. Had a house finch at my feeder a couple of days ago, but he was
my only visitor.
