Greetings birders,
The first outing of the Wild Goose Chase was a pleasant adventure at North
Teller Lakes/White Rocks trail in Boulder County. We had a great time getting
looks at 33 different species and a couple of raptors that puzzled us all.
Of particular interest were views of a
miles up Flagstaff Rd)
All the walks will start at 7:30 AM - looking forward to any and all birders
that want to join us!
Happy Birding!

Mark,
I have found that on my e-bird alerts for rare species or birds I haven't found
this year the hourly setting helps me catch some of those reports. This
obviously misses birders who enter lists at the end of the day or later, but it
does help catch a fair number of recent reports
Had a chance to get down to Lake Cheraw on Sunday and saw the Snowy Plovers and
their hatched chicks. The surprise was 2 plovers that looked decidedly like
piping plovers based on their yellowish legs, similar yellowish color at the
base of their bills, and strong incomplete black breast band.
Art, I think your statement is misguided. The bird world is rich with the
vocals of our feathered friends that sometimes leads to wonderful views, and
sometimes not. I would never pretend that the siren call I hear from a
red-breasted nuthatch or bubbly melody of a yellow warbler means those
Would not surprise me in the least - the area that the bird was found in is
highly industrial and really lacks any sufficient habitat for bird life in
general. Additionally, the Chukar did not flush when a wide variety of urban
sounds (car engines rev, people yelling, etc) occurred, nor when
Gary (and others),
I apologize for not leaving more details about how to get there - I myself
wasn't sure where it was when I first saw the reports. My savior was signing
up for the rarity reports from ebird where each sighting triggers an email with
who made the sighting and links to a map
I decided to see how Last Chance was faring this afternoon on the way home from
work and to my surprise there was still water in the little pond. The
vegetation also is thriving in some places providing some ok understory.
Considering that temps were still in the high 90's while I was there
