I'm unable to attend the Red Rocks Christmas Bird Count today. Bob just
called with the report of a juvenile Golden-Crowned Sparrow at the feeders
behind the Trading Post. We wanted to get the word out, as it could be a
state bird for many.

Cobirders,
Among the most interesting birds this morning was a Pacific Loon, an
American Avocet and a Black-bellied Plover. There were many (40 plus)
Mountain Bluebirds in several locations in the park. A single Barn Swallow
was working just above the water.

trailed south gaining a bit of altitude then around and to the northeast
gradually drifting further away towards Franktown.

Stilt Sandpipers were best for me there.
A single Clark's Grebe was in the inlet canal on the west side.

To add to David Leatherman's report:
Monday at Crow Valley Campground:
We did see Black-headed Grosbeaks, 3 males, 1 female
Flushed 1 Poorwill
Numerous Orange-crowned Warblers
I'm still in awe over how many Spotted Towhee's were present
Just west of SR14 and CR57 we saw one immature

Migration definitely paid a visit to Chatfield Reservoir today. After
brunch and a late start of birding, we arrived at about 10:00.
Our drive to the stables on the west side of the park revealed an impressive
Sparrow fallout. The road was littered; the meadows were crawling
