COBirders,
Fountain Creek Nature Center hosted it's 20th winter bird count today. While
the weather was incredibly warm, the bird numbers were low for a winter count.
For the two hours of birding, we only had 41 species. Most all common birds.

2012 is starting out great with a new yard bird this morning - a White-winged
Dove. While they have been in Colorado Springs for maybe 10 years or so, this
is the first for me on the west-side in Pleasant Valley.

COBirders,
An adult Harris's Sparrow showed up in my yard this morning. While not a new
yard bird, it added some excitement to the day as we don't see them very often.

At Bear Creek Nature Center today I saw a Northern Goshawk and an

Christie and I both saw a female type Common Redpoll at our backyard bird
feeder at 3:15 this afternoon. It was one of a mixed flock of siskins,
goldfinches and house finches. The credit goes to Christie for finding the bird
first. I was too late with my camera to record a photo,
Cobirders,
The 3 tundra swans reported by Gary Koehn and Bill Maynard were still at Big
Johnson Reservoir this morning. I also saw a merlin (appeared to be Taiga) and
hundreds of Horned Larks. Also of interest was about 2000+ geese that landed
on the water, many were cackling geese.
